Finally Nigerians went to the polls over the weekend. While it was seen to be free and fair the result has however thrown up some big shock results especially in the South-West where the Action Congress has reversed almost if not all the gains the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) made in the 2007 election. Big names such as Dimeji Bankole – speaker of the house of representative, Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello – daughter of the former president, Olusegun Agagu, Chimaroke Nnamani and Orji Kalu, all former Governors lost their senatorial bids. In as much as I don’t want to be forward in declaring that Nigerians now know better, I am of the opinion this might be the wake up call for a change that has been in the pipeline.

I still remain skeptical about elections in nigeria but I strongly believe that the country is moving in the right direction.Couldn’t believe that both iyabo and dimeji were voted out by the people.
