Blogging……to be or not to be!

Quite a number of times I’ve tried to pen something down for my blog and I get stuck in between lines. I often realise it’s not for want of ideas…..sooo many things to write about but more often that not I put myself in the shoes of the reader wondering if they would ever find the piece catchy or interesting. This lead me to ask, what makes a great blog? Opinions differ greatly depending on whose view you are taking but personally I LOVE a blog that would keep me engaged! I like when a topic is well researched robustly laid out and the language is interesting.

Can I say I’ve scored very high in this areas……well hold on guys, aint going to be the judge in my own case but I strive to keep it interesting.

Some folks are born writers, no matter how long the writing, ability to keep the readers glued is never in question. I have had the opportunity to read great blogs and I hope one day “tripen’s odyssey” would be mentioned in that light.

9/11 Memorial

It’s been ten years since the extremist gave us a new insight into the word “terror”. I can still remember vividly the scene and thoughts when the first plane slammed into one of the towers – American was under siege and how would they survive this? That they have survived it is an understatement but over the years their resilience has grown in abundance. The broken down structures are being put up once again and in retrospect, the extremist must now think what a foolhardy venture to have embarked on. They have been hunted down, and their hierarchy is being decimated.
While it’s now ten years since this act of cowardice took place, the world has never and might never be the same. At every turn of each decade, the evil men perpetrate goes deeper. I sincerely know this does not define us as human because in every chaos and peril, the courage and bravery of men and women speaks for generations to come.

To the ones we lost on 9/11, continue to Rest in Peace.

Place of worship

Its 12:38am and am sitting on my bed lost in thought…….. Ear plugs tightly secured, listening to midnight RnB tunes from my favourite station. It has been tough these past few weeks but eyes on the price cause it is too early to give up. Religion, Family, Education, Emotions, Relationships, Money and Work: all fighting for attention, slowly draining every fibre of my muscle.
It has been ages since I posted anything here……. am not going to give excuse, am flat out guilty. I however hope things would improve from now on.
This week I would be writing on an issue that could somehow be touchy for a few folks. In this part of the world, spirituality and religion are two sides of the same coin that people hold on to dearly. More often than not, I ask myself, why do people go to church? While I can’t deny the impact it has on the lives of people, I however do ask myself “to what extent does the economic situation in Nigeria push people through the door of churches? Would the level of devotion and enthusiasm increase in a commensurate manner after request is answered? ”
The growth of churches has been phenomenal since the early 80’s and continues to grow at an exponential rate. This however has not decreased the level of moral decadence nor crime. I really get perturbed as to why there is no correlation between the two.
I dislike jumping from church to church, so this past week when I was invited to a friend’s church I decided to attend as a sign of regard and respect. Well in as much as I don’t want to delve into the nitty gritty of what the session was like, I found myself detached from some thing around me. Time management was zero and celebration of people getting visa went on and on. Beside me, a guy was actually holding his passports, raising it from time to time.
I sincerely hope we translate and apply “the God principles” being preached from our different places of worship into our everyday lives and make this country a better place to live in.
