Place of worship

Its 12:38am and am sitting on my bed lost in thought…….. Ear plugs tightly secured, listening to midnight RnB tunes from my favourite station. It has been tough these past few weeks but eyes on the price cause it is too early to give up. Religion, Family, Education, Emotions, Relationships, Money and Work: all fighting for attention, slowly draining every fibre of my muscle.
It has been ages since I posted anything here……. am not going to give excuse, am flat out guilty. I however hope things would improve from now on.
This week I would be writing on an issue that could somehow be touchy for a few folks. In this part of the world, spirituality and religion are two sides of the same coin that people hold on to dearly. More often than not, I ask myself, why do people go to church? While I can’t deny the impact it has on the lives of people, I however do ask myself “to what extent does the economic situation in Nigeria push people through the door of churches? Would the level of devotion and enthusiasm increase in a commensurate manner after request is answered? ”
The growth of churches has been phenomenal since the early 80’s and continues to grow at an exponential rate. This however has not decreased the level of moral decadence nor crime. I really get perturbed as to why there is no correlation between the two.
I dislike jumping from church to church, so this past week when I was invited to a friend’s church I decided to attend as a sign of regard and respect. Well in as much as I don’t want to delve into the nitty gritty of what the session was like, I found myself detached from some thing around me. Time management was zero and celebration of people getting visa went on and on. Beside me, a guy was actually holding his passports, raising it from time to time.
I sincerely hope we translate and apply “the God principles” being preached from our different places of worship into our everyday lives and make this country a better place to live in.

ciao

the god in a father

Each day I meet people of different race, background, color, ideology, orientation, you name it. I count it as a privilege and I try as much as it lies in my power to make each encounter memorable (well at least from my own part). When however the opposite party leaves a mark, it keeps me wondering and engaged.

The Setting: Bunibuni.com
The Business: meet people and mingle
The slogan: A mind-blowing experience

The name and personality radiates exuberance sometimes of an enforcer, a teacher, superior being and with such a voice deep and garnished with confidence. Girls are in love or lust and guys …..uhm cant wait to knock Him of His perch I assume. To most people on the site, no known identity can be attached to the face and that I believe drives the passion to know who this mystery man is, but it also bring along desperation and sometimes frustration. No known picture, just a VOICE recognizable amongst thousands. Our first encounter was on Religion and we went on for hours sometimes defying logic of those in the chat room. Over time, I saw in Him a father figure to some, a writer who does His work with passion, a believer in excellence and knowledge and more so a friend.

His love for Movies, Photography, NFL, Barcelona, gadgets and I assume knowledge is well noted. what more can I say, my view of him might be different from yours (if you know him though) but what ever your conclusion, there is this point reached and you realise he is a like-able person.

His he married? how old His he? His he Ghanaian or Nigerian? how did he become so knowledgeable in so many things? who has seen him before? These and many more questions besiege my heart each time I read His blog.

“Sometimes you meet people for a reason, sometimes for a season but you decide what effect they would have on you” Watch out ’cause you could be on my radar soon.
